What is Naturopathy?

A qualified naturopath* is trained to find the underlying cause of health issues – we treat the whole person not only the presenting symptoms.

At the core of naturopathy are the following principles:

  • First do no harm

  • To treat the causes of disease

  • To teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine

  • To heal the whole person through individualised treatment

  • To emphasise prevention

  • To support the healing power of the body

In essence I help you to feel better, (energy/ mood / better skin/ better digestion/ in whichever area your health needs to be supported in: we use food (assessing your diet and symptoms to work out any imbalance and adjust your food intake accordingly), as well as supplements and or herbal medicine where necessary.  I also assist you with guidance in managing stress, improving your sleep, creating healthy habits, whatever is necessary for you to be healthy.

If you aren't sure what the problem is, this is the place to be as I look at all areas of your health and address it from a holistic perspective.

The consultation process in more detail

During the Initial consultation

To get to the root causes of health issues we take the holistic approach - and

ask in detail: your past& current medical history, look at your blood tests as

well as any other tests that you may have had, also your eating patterns, any

supplements you have been taking and  your daily lifestyle and routines.

daily routine as well as skin, hair, nails, and basic iridology. You may be

required to fill out some questionaires.Generally the first consultation will take

around an hour.

You will be asked to bring (or email) a list of your current medications, supplements and any relevant blood tests to your first consultation. Sometimes you will be sent an online questionnaire to fill out.

Recommendations

At the end of your initial consultation an evaluation is made, taking into account all factors that may be influencing your health. We will then develop an individualised treatment plan that will suit your lifestyle and budget.

Sometimes Jasmin may take a day or two to complete the recommendations depending upon the complexity of your needs.

Recommendations may include specific supplements to target nutritional deficiencies, herbal medicine (teas, tinctures, creams), homotoxicology (heel homeopathics) ,food and nutritional guidelines or eating plans, lifestyle changes, body therapies and referrals where necessary.

The review appointment/s

Why are review appointments included in the Work with Me package?

Review appointments are very important. It is generally around 30 minutes long and allows Jasmin to assess how the treatment is going and adjust if necessary as well as answer any further queries you may have. Any test results will be gone over and/or further testing may be recommended. If any new health concerns have come up these will also be discussed and recommendations made.

These appointments is a vital part of your health improvement as it allows the naturopath to support and assist you to keep on track with your health goals.

Just as with other health professional appointments you generally don't just go to them once and you are all fixed or sorted.

Sometimes a number of follow-up appointments are necessary. This depends upon an individuals needs.

This support is to help you develop the tools to maintain your optimum level of health!

Childrens consultations

I've had extensive experience with working with infants, children and teenagers. Managing own childrens' health issues is what caused me to study naturopathy (they are now 33 and 24). I use homeopathy, supplements, herbal medicine, tissue salts and nutrition with children. Consultations are generally around 30 - 40 minutes depending upon age and health concerns.

Bowen Therapy is helpful for children of all ages: for bodily pain, colic, bedwetting, stress, migraines, sporting injuries, sleep issues, bedwetting. (In this case I would also recommend a naturopathic consultation to find out more.)

Hair Testing is recommended for  babies upward - for anything from skin conditions, allergies and digestive complaints such as sore tummies, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea.

'I love to see children in the clinic. It is great to work alongside parents to help their children attain the best health they can. I often see children with digestive concerns, (constipation, tummy aches etc), allergies as well as anxiety, sleeping issues and hyperactivity.'
